Onshore Opportunities

Unlocking Ghana’s Frontier Hydrocarbon Potential

Ghana’s onshore petroleum prospects, particularly in the Voltaian Basin, represent one of the most exciting frontiers in West Africa. With vast acreage, encouraging early exploration results, and a government committed to sustainable resource development, onshore investment offers high-impact opportunities for forward-looking partners.

Why Onshore Ghana?

Vast Untapped Acreage

The Voltaian Basin covers more than 100,000 km², making it one of the largest untested inland basins in Africa. Explorco holds licenses across key blocks that show strong geological indicators of hydrocarbon potential.

Promising Early Results

Seismic surveys, soil gas sampling, and geochemical studies have confirmed the presence of petroleum systems. Indicators such as bitumen shows, hydrocarbon seepages, and type II kerogen source rocks suggest viable exploration prospects.

Strategic Farm-Down Opportunities

Explorco is open to partnerships with technically credible and financially strong investors. Farm-down opportunities provide a pathway to share risks and rewards while accelerating the basin’s development.

Supportive Investment Climate

Backed by GNPC and Ghana’s Ministry of Energy, onshore exploration benefits from transparent licensing, strong institutional support, and policies designed to attract global expertise.

Aligned with National Development

Onshore development not only advances energy security but also stimulates rural economies through job creation, infrastructure, and local content participation.

Current Onshore Assets

GH-VB-01

Operator: Explorco (100%)

Size: 5,480 km²

Status: Farm-down planned

2D seismic coverage of 1,558 km reveals promising stratigraphic and structural traps. Soil gas data, bitumen shows, and recent hydrocarbon seepages confirm strong exploration potential. Evidence also indicates the presence of marine source rocks containing Type II kerogen.

Work Commitment: Geological and geophysical (G&G) studies and drilling of one exploration well within three years.

GH-VB-03

Operator: Bay Veritas (75%)

Partners: GNPC (15%), Explorco (10%)

Size: 7,017 km²

Exploration targets lie within the Kwahu-Bombuaka sequence, with estimated prospective resources of about 2 billion barrels. The block shows active petroleum indicators and favourable hydrocarbon migration pathways.

Work Commitment: Geological and geophysical (G&G) studies and drilling of one exploration well.
